The Commission Process

Four steps,
Edinburgh to your door.

From a first conversation to a piece installed in your home — considered, transparent and entirely in our own hands.

01
Commission

We talk first.

Consult by call, email or in person in Edinburgh. We listen to the collection, the room and the ambition — then advise honestly on what is possible and what it will take.

02
Design

Drawings before cuts.

You receive drawings, a timber selection and a fixed quote. Nothing is cut until you approve it — the design, the wood, the price and the timeline are agreed in writing.

03
Build · 6–16 weeks

Hand-built in Edinburgh.

Your piece is made by hand in our workshop, with progress photography throughout. Lead time is typically six to sixteen weeks, depending on scale and complexity.

04
Deliver & Install

White-glove, worldwide.

White-glove crated delivery worldwide. DTJ install is available in many cities, or we provide full fit-out instructions for your own contractor. For whisky rooms, our team travels to your site — wherever in the world it is.

Delivery & export

Crated like the cargo it is.

Each piece is custom-crated for international transit and shipped white-glove to your door. We manage the export from Edinburgh so the only thing that arrives at your home is the furniture — and, for whisky rooms, our install team.

Fixed quote

Agreed before any cut. No surprises between sketch and delivery.

Progress photos

You watch your piece take shape, stage by stage, from the workshop.

Provenance record

Materials and origins documented, with an engraved plate or certificate.
